Energy Security
Energy is the lifeblood of this country
More now than ever, Virginia needs an-all-of-the-above energy approach to ensure our energy independence and security. Virginia has not been immune to the skyrocketing inflation, soaring gas prices, and rise in our overall cost of living our whole country is experiencing. Virginians have the opportunity to diversify their energy future right in their own backyard. More solar development all around the state will lower our energy cost, and increase security. It's time to bring the power back to the Commonwealth.
Energy Independence
Even at the local and state level, energy decisions should pursue supply security and price stability -- the two go hand in hand. Renewables are unlike other forms of energy generation because the fuel (sunlight, wind, water) is free! After a large upfront cost to build a solar project, panels produce electricity for decades with very little upkeep. The cost of sunshine will never increase. With panels deployed across the Commonwealth, the cost of a kilowatt hour from a solar project is stable. A larger share of renewables in our energy portfolio will decrease our reliance on foreign oil and increase domestic energy potential.
