Tax Relief Coming for Citizens via Solar Payments

The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors has made good on their promise to use revenue from solar projects to help reduce the tax burden on citizens of the county. Beginning with the December tax bill, citizens will see a solar tax credit applied to their statements. The tax credit will appear on bills in December and June of 2023.

Planning Commissioners sign off on Cumberland solar farm request

The Cumberland county board of supervisors will have another solar project to consider at their November meeting. By a unanimous vote, Cumberland Planning Commission approve the request by Sun Tribe LLC for a conditional use permit. Now it goes to the county board for a final vote. The proposed Cumberland solar farm is located south of the calling, your gas pipeline, storage facility, ride along sports Lake Road.

2,200-acre solar farm opens in rural Charles City County

CHARLES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A new solar facility in Charles City boasting over 514,200 panels opened last week on wetlands at the county’s western edge. The facility, which was built by the AES corporation, is expected to generate 175 Megawatts. That’s enough to power approximately 30,000 homes — over ten times the number currently in Charles City County.

Franklin County solar farm approved on 5-2 vote

ROCKY MOUNT — Franklin County’s first solar farm is officially on its way. Tuesday, the county Board of Supervisors voted 5-2 — with Ronald Mitchell and Nick Mitchell against — to approve a siting agreement for the 160-acre project proposed by Willow Solar. It will be located in the county’s Blue Ridge District near the intersection of Davis Mill Road and Virginia 40.

Solar expected to bring $45M in revenue to Halifax County over 35-year period

Several solar projects are under construction in Halifax County, while others are in the works. Halifax County Administrator Scott Simpson gave an update on the county’s solar projects — along with anticipated revenues — at Monday evening’s board of supervisors meeting. A total of 16 solar projects in the county either have already been completed, are currently under construction or are in the pre-construction phase, Simpson shared with the supervisors.
